Ebay "X-stream" 125s

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Milo Thurston, Jul 28, 2005.

  1. The other half fancies doing a CBT, and she would like a 125 with a
low seat. It seems to me that an SR125 would do the job nicely, but
they're hard to find second had at the moment.
So, I wonder about one of these:

    or these:

Does the quality of such things reach adequate, or are they considerably
worse? Whatever I get, it has to be able to make a 40-mile round trip
without breaking down or bits falling off.

Where do you get spares from when bits fall off?

I wouldn't if I were you. These are the equivalent of those fake
Rolexes you see on car boot sales. China still has a long way to
go before it's turning out bikes anywhere near Jap quality and
reliability. The finish is dreadful close up, and the chrome
turns brown if you spit on it. They may appear cheap but the
potential extra running costs could be high and the resale value
    will be next to nowt.

For the same money you can get the real thing second hand. Best
buy, if she fancies a cruiser, is a used CA 125 Rebel. You won't
lose a penny when you come to sell it and they're a superb
learner machine. They're not the cheapest but then it says a lot
    that they're so sought after.

As you would but history is there to teach us many things but it is
worth bearing in mind that they said all that shit about that nice Mr
Honda 40 years ago and the shit engineering and QC the chinks will be
using today may just, only just mind, be a tad more up to date.

Look at all of them, only test ride the ones you don't like the colour
of and buy a the first black one you see.
