Never seen one of these on Ebay before: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2459746374&category=424 Anyone ever had a go on one? -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My Bike 2000 Honda CB500 M'boy's Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26
Never ridden or even seen one IRL but I remember a road test back in the 80's. Apparently you need a double jointed ankle to change gear as the shift is still in the original H pattern.
Heh, I noticed that too. Don't think I would have the nerve to emblazon "big boy" across the front of my bike, it's a bit, erm, naf. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My Bike 2000 Honda CB500 M'boy's Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26
was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever: If there was a bid on it when you bid, and it was higher than what you put on there, then you'll be outbid in the same second. Perfectly normal.
Heh Des, seeing as we're old sparring partners now, you go right on and be my guest I noticed the same thing happening when I was bidding for my lad's moped on ebay. I think it's to do with the amount of the bid increment and the maximum bid but in (or summat). SWMBO would be able to explain it better as she's more adept at ebaying than I am. Anyway, hope you get it sorted, if it's any help my local computer shop chappie (excellent Chinese bloke) has a branch in France, dunno where though, here's the URL: http://clubmicro.com/sinoco.htm -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My Bike 2000 Honda CB500 M'boy's Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140, DIAABTCOD #26
This just means the previous bidder put a higher bid in than yours. Although he made a bid of more than 1 euro, it will still appear as 1 euro because that would be the selling price (if no-one else made a bid).
As it shows you as the high (and only) bidder, I don't see your problem. eBay employs a proxy bidding system, whereby you enter your (theoretical) maximum bid - the figure you are happy to pay for the item - and eBay will then 'bid on your behalf' by the stated increments (if others bid against you) until it reaches your max. I have entered bids before and seen the 'another bidder has outbid you' instantly - but on checking back I see that the price of the item has indeed increased to one increment beyond the figure that I entered. This is because a previous bidder had entered a proxy bid that turned out to be higher (or equal to) than mine. This is because earlier bids count first in the event of a tie - and away goals count double, natch. It is a bit of a strain getting your head round it, but once you see the light it is as simple as anything. Go read eBay's info/help/FAQ pages about proxy bidding.
