Grr - ebay won't let Owen use his account because his password is not
'strong' enough; neither will it let him change it(the screens joust
go round in a loop). ebay won't let me start up an account because
Owne already has one. ebay's contact us and close account screens need
Owne to sign in, which he can't do because his password ... etc. It's
like the bloody hole in the bucket song! How can I sort this out?

How about trying an "I've forgotten my password" option, normally
websites generate a new temporary password and imail it to the address
    your account is registered to.

How? I only have the one, plus one at work that I am strictly not
    allowed to use for ebay.

Might have - how would I know? But then I tried it in Firefox, which,
having never used it before, I have not configured for cookies.

Tools/options/privacy to see if you are generally accepting or rejecting
cookies then cookies/exceptions to see if you have any particular
    blocks/accepts set up.

If eBay accepted your password when you set it up, they can't refuse your
login with it now. I don't understand. Or perhaps you don't. Dunno.

I can see that your pericles address is registered on eBay. If you clicky
    http://cgi4.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ForgotYourPasswordShow, they'll send
you your password. Did you try that?

If you want to open another eBay account, take out a Gmail account as Timo
    suggested.

Er, no, I don't think we are. Ebay says it's because it's the same
email address, which we both use. I've now had an email from the
helpdesk, which I got by logging in as a guest and contacting them
that way, so I should be able to do something now.

  18. You could buy yourself a domain and have 50 email addresses. Cost about
a tenner. Maybe less. Or just ask someone around here who's got spare
addies for one of their domains.
