eastbound 24 before Caldicott, was waved to shoulder by CHP officer

    who told me I was going "way too fast" to be splitting lanes
    since the traffic was moving at about 10 mph. I asked if he
    had a rule of thumb on how fast was permissible, and he
    said "40 is probably too fast through stopped traffic. Have
    a nice weekend."

    He was too busy giving the same treatment to lotsa folks
    to cite me, I suppose.

    I think it was my crisp and immediate response -- besides,
    my throttle hand was a little numb.... ;-)
