Not really. Look at past years on that same page. There are usually
more than 70 big quakes/year, worldwide.

Yes, and? They had more than that in 1 day after the 8.8 one.

I don't believe that either. Chaos reigns in war.

  14. Only what I've read in the papers over the years but the aid workers
were often buying sacks of grain and shipping them to needy areas only
to find they had bought sacks filled with sand.

The needy poor who were organised to shift grain were often the militia
disguised as locals, who then nicked it for themselves or to sell on.

I don't think *some* of the money going the wrong way is a problem. If you
want to wait for absolute surety everyone will be dead before.

That would require the seniors of the charidees to be complicit, and I can't
    believe that.

It's not hidden though and I read about it in the sarnie shops paper (the
Daily Star, no less) so it must be true.

  18. I found that figure astounding, but I can't see why you can claim it
to be nonsense. Were you there? I know I wasn't.

All I can hope is that you are right and he is wrong.

  19. I agree.
There were lots of report of the aid being miss directed, stolen, sold
    on etc.
The figure is probably larger than the aid agency admit to, but 95%
going missing is difficult to accept.

  20. I was listening to someone who sounded pretty credible and was there.
But as I don't know him or your references personally, their
credibility is open to media reporting difficulties.

I'm inclined to believe you, but am not going to totally write off the
    other figure either.
