Earplugs

    Well, on the subject of ear plugs...

    I've just ordered some from these people www.DeafEquipment.co.uk . They
    do all sorts of reusable ones that block only the sorts of frequencies
    you don't want to hear, good in theory. Good in practice? We'll see.

    Yes, very good indeed. I don't need to take them out when I go and get
    petrol, I can hear people talk clearly... and the wind noise reduces to
    a gentle, quiet level. Lovely.

    You know you've got them in, but if they're in properly, they are ok.

    I need to practice putting them in more, as I'm a little cack handed at
    the mo.
