  2. Don't read the comic but you could look at:
    http://www.etymotic.com - they have a uk distributer.

    ER4S is an earplug/headphone.

    I was quite interested until I saw the price. 330 dollars for some
    headphones; they're having a laugh.

    Have a look at the Future Sonic Ears (EM 3).

    <http://www.futuresonics.com/>

    Top quality. Much better sound _and_ IMHO better noise isolation than
    Sony MDR MC10 active noise cancellation jobbies[1].

    They make Sony Fontopia MDR EX70's sound like something out of a
    Christmas Cracker.

    They've recently lowered the price... a bit

    I haven't tried them in a helmet, but for train and tube they're bliss.

    Who knows... you may find yourself in the wee hours after having a
    little too much good wine ordering some not real cheap ear phones and
    forgetting all about it until they arrive in the post <cough>.

    [1] And smaller and much less fiddly.

    yes, though I've lost my pair and need to buy another set.
    they're very good - I haven't tried the expensive yank ones that Tom
    Warner recommended that "make Sony Fontopia MDR EX70's sound like
    something out of a Christmas Cracker." but the Fontopias are very very
    good earphones for the money (about 30-35 quid).

    I haven't actually tried them on a bike, but in a noisy office
    environment, you can hear your music and no outside sounds even on
    fairly low volume settings from your CD player or whatever, and the
    bass response is excellent.

    Did you not find they occasionally fall out though?

    I must have odd ears as if they are the ones I'm thinking of, they popped
    out every now and then.

    Anyway, regarding the OP - I'm sure greenleopard and their ilk do moulded
    plugs with head phones in them that whilst expensive, are no where near
    $150.

    You, young man, have a woman's sense of proportion.
    There are some very strangely shaped helmets about ...

    <AOL>

    Another pair with top sound are the ones wot come with the Apple iPod.

    I can't see that they'd be usable in a helmet or active sports but, for
    sittin' 'n listen'n to good music they are excellent.
