Early warning for French Run 2010

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Oct 10, 2009.

  1. Just FYI.

The 2010 French Run will be from Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May, so two
nights, as ever. Monday 3 May is a Bank Holiday.

It's going to be the Champagne region again.

Old hands will know what to expect. Newbies: this is the annual weekend
of total ukrm misbehaviour and debauchery. A nice hotel in France,
four-course dinners both nights, and ferry crossing, for roughly £150 a
    head.

So far, we have managed to drink three hotels dry of beer on the first
night (I think that's the tally, isn't it? - happy to be corrected). We
have left a trail of happy barkeepers and hoteliers, plus irritated
gendarmes and at least one hospital A&E crew, in our wake.

If you've ever wondered who the faces are behind the postings, this is
your chance to find out. You may be disappointed....

We usually have a 'gate' of about 50 people on these runs. Hotel car
parks are entirely given over to bikes, which is right and proper.

Full details will go out before Christmas.

  4. Perhaps this will be my return to UKRM meets. My last face-to-face
    encounter was EOSM '07...

    I really want to go.
I may not be able to go.
Daughter; eldest has announced a 'condition'.
The timing involves my induction into the tertiary echelon of senior
    family.
    Just after the 'French run'.

    I'm really quite pleased.

I may yet find a way; a long weekend is just 3 days and its only France
and a bike ride away FFS.

    :D

My grandaughter was born when I was on my way back down the M6 after
going to the Manx GP and while I can understand a bit of resentment
from the other half if it's your child being born a grandchild can
    wait before you see it.

It might be different in Wales...

Hell, the French run in late 2001 was the weekend of our wedding. It
just made for a slightly unusual honeymoon.

  14. 07? Amateur. '01 or something like that if it was the black horse I
    think.

Or maybe the endurance racing in 04 or so.

  15. I think I see your error. You're assuming the role of Grandfather and
    Father are seperate.
