    Hi folks.

I have never used e-bay, but am thinking of selling at least one of the
    fleet of bikes.

Would any of you care to comment about how good/bad using e-bay is, and
what traps there may be for the uninitiated?

    regards,

    Thanks for your comments.

I'm still wondering about the appropriate caveats for a test-ride, too. :-(

My opinion is: It's a good place to get good money for shit bikes, but a
shit place to get good money for good bikes.

    Start at $1, no reserve.

Don't bother for rarities; only for bikes that are common and hence have
    a liquid second hand market.

The Z50 was the one I thought might be an e-bay candidate.

The Hornet may be sold, but I think I'd get a better price for it
    without e-bay getting involved.

CrazyCam (who has fallen in lust with something _terribly_ expensive.)

You may well be right, as long as you emaphasise current rego.

although the problem is, it's all been done on Bluey, so the amount of
money you want means you have to find another loony of the same stamp...

Who doesn't want the fun of doing it themselves. and who won't be
worried about having to say 'no, I bought it like that'

quite possibly as ebay is a worldwide medium and there is some other nutters
    out there
maybe , you can always try your luck

IIRC its a $5 list fee and $30 if you sell

cant hurt to try , worst case is you have done $5 , best case you sell more
    than you thought

contact J5 or Fwoar for ebay selling tips , including getting many great
    pics into the listing
at no extra charge which is your best selling tool

    That's what I would do.

    1) Gets the fringe humm'n'rers bid and hopefully bid again when they realise
the price is becoming realistic. Has the item sitting in their bidding page
which may get another impulse bid.
    2) Clocks up the bidders count which adds to the curiosity of most. Might
pick up a curious bid there as well.

Furthermore, publish clear pics preferably with a date stamp, and when
people ask you stuff about the bike, choose to publish on the page to avoid
    repetitious answers.

    Or how about alternatives?
This question had probably been asked a million times, but what are the
considered the good sites for buying/selling?
So far I've been browsing Ebay, Bikepoint, and Tradingpost.

We sold our RF900R on ebay last year. Didn't have any problems, the person
that won it paid a deposit on the day of the auction ending, and paid the
rest a few days before getting it picked up. As others have said, start at
a low price with no reserve and see where it goes. I didn't have to worry
about the test ride side as it was purchased by someone in QLD sight unseen.
I sent them pictures of any marks or damage and even a video clip of it
starting from cold. They paid for all freight to QLD from VIC.

We started it at a price that was the absolute lowest we would sell it for
(would have been a real bargain), it had doubled by the time the auction
    ended.
