Good idea Steve. The septics sure do know about bombs and guns.

Far too much in my opinion but I think we can wait until a little

I like Americans. I've never had a bad trip to the States. Good food good
people and a great attitude to life.

Mixed in equal quantities seemed to work just fine. We never bothered
working out the chemistry to get an exact proportions.

As for the fuse, just about anything will do as long as it burns hot enough
(it takes a little extra oomph to get it going), electrical fusewire type
fuse, a banger firework fuse, whatever. If you must play with this stuff
then try not to be too near the device when it goes off.

A three inch length of 15mm copper pipe full of the stuff then sealed at the
ends (crimped with a hammer) was sufficient to blow a house brick in half.

I'm told that spreading match head shavings through the mixture helps with
    ignition.

Funny thing was, as kids we had no worries at all about playing with this
and stuff that goes bang, but these days you would most likely get arrested
    for it.

Making explosives, even if it's just for larks rather than for hurting
people and property, is a crime init? (JP clues?)

IME running away from this stuff (when suitably contained and about to
ignite) is a good idea. Taking cover is not a bad idea either since the
flying shrapnel might still get you if you don't. Depends what you use as a
container though I suppose, copper pipe just used to rupture for the most
part, but on those rare occassions that we used chromed steel tubing it
would shatter and bits would fly everywhere rather jolly fast.

Who me? Naaa, there's nowt nazi about it; go ahead and play with this stuff
if you must; but don't come crying to me when you burn a fucking great hole
in yourself or lose an eye.

If you want something really hot (as in it would happily melt / burn its way
through a car engine block) then look up the thermite process, ooooh but
    that one is fun!
Mind bogglingly dangerous, but fun :)
    Reasonably easy to do too.

S'ok, I was gonna put a smiley at the end of that post but then thought,
    nah, bollocks to it.)

I know what it can do, though. Still haven't played with stuff like it
    for,
oooh, 25 years. My mate lived next door to a chicken farm and we used
    to lark
around with home-made bombs on waste ground out the back. His neighbour
    used
to complain that we would put his chickens off laying. :eek:/

As you say elsewhere, we'd probably get locked up for it these days.
    Cool )

If you can't get sodium cholrate, use Ammonium Nitrate (ICI sell it as
    fertilizer)

50:50 with sugar, and then add aluminium filings, if available.

Ignite as with the chlorate. For real 'safety' a large fireplace type
match head, wrapped with copper wire, then buried in the mix will, when
connected to a suitable power source (like a 12v lead acid battery), set
everything off from a decent distance.

You can use diesel instead fo sugar, but if memory serves, that gets rather
unstable rapidly. The military used / use a variant on that one I think.

Oh, I agree completly; in America. I've not had a bad trip there and
went there 5 times last year (6 if you count Vancouver as America...).
Off again shortly for a short trip to Irvine.

I don't particularly like what they've (America) done with their foreign
policy but then again I'm not altogether proud of what we've done with
    ours in the UK.

I think Elwood had it right on the Blues Brother's version of Green
Onions where he suggested that the Americans should "stay home for the
next ten years". I wish we'd do the same in the uk.
