But it's not just about £19, is it (not that I'm getting 'worked up about'
it)... £19 here, £80 there... these 'taxes', together with all the other
money making administrative bollocks being brought in on the quiet here and
there adds up to a tidy sum overall for the 'HM Screw the Peasants into the
    Floor' Brigade.

It's yet more taxation by stealth, yet more red tape making life more
difficult for the majority, being generated under some pretence of being for
    the good of all.
I agree... not as things stand anyway in this country, at least in a
political sense... the illusion of living in a democracy is just that... an
    illusion.

Unfortunately, no, there wasn't time. We did a day trip from Cancun,
which only gave us about three hours at Chichen Itza. I'd have happily
spent a whole day there, though.

Not in terms of dullness/annoyance factor for the majority, but in terms of
attracting dumb comments then I'd hope there would be some difference, even
if it was just more/some death threats... :)

We hired a guide and spent 3 days exploring.

The red jaguar is at the top of inner pyramid. The trees are a limestone
formation at the bottom of the Balankanche Cave. You are probably
    familiar with the rest.

  7. Well yes, I take your point, but at least there is an element of choice in
whether you pay the DVLA for stuff or not.
On the other hand, having recently received a demand for £4500.00 from the
inland revenue because of overpayments made over a period of time due to a
cock up at their end, I am rather miffed, as I seem to have little choice
    other than to cough up.
Heh, sensible poicies for a happier Britain and all that.

Agreed... and I doubt it would matter who was in at the top, they'd be doing
the same, what with most of the family silver having been sold off many
years ago, amongst other things at a national level that lose or cost money,
not least playing world Policeman here, there and everywhere.
    "Working Families..."?
