Yes, well, if you can find people that are after DVD's of me doing such interesting things as respoking Virago wheels, rewiring the electrics etc then feel free. -- Kevin - Basildon XV535 GPZ305 (her's) BOTAFOT#67 BOTAFOF#23 OSOS#29
The thing I found was that loyalty was to the team, mostly, then a little bit to the part of the business we were in, and after that it got fucking rarified. Charlie Watts: "I play drums for Mick and Keith." ATM my loyalty is to Steve and Lynn, I get on well with the remnants of the old Network Support team, and the rest of them can have a long hard suck at my fucking arse. In that order.
****. They're currently touting voluntary redundancy, but the package isn't nearly enough. I'm currently working on a way to plunder the training budget. Have you looked behind the sofa?

I threw them away, sorry. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 ZZR1100, Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 (On its hols) Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big"
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Bear Good. Frankly they looked pretty worn. And one of them was clearly a cheap Chinese copy. The one marked "Vatican Property - Do Not Remove" was interesting, I nearly kept it. But it smelt funny, so I binned it with the rest. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - Manufacturer of the "Champion-105" range of rearsets WS* GHPOTHUF#24 APOSTLE#14 DLC#1 COFF#20 BOTAFOT#150 HYPO#0(KoTL) IbW#41 ZZR1100, Enfield 500 Curry House Racer "The Basmati Rice Burner", Honda GL1000K2 (On its hols) Kawasaki ZN1300 Voyager "Oh, Oh, It's so big"
I'm currently worn down by meetings, conference calls, train journeys up to London, project development workshops and no meaningful work. It's a complete pisser. ATM I feel like I'm being de-skilled. A couple of weeks ago, someone said to me, "You're /so/ 3rd-line support." I really need to be back working with my hands, fixing things, instead of fucking around with management and political games. With any luck, I'll be able to slip into the data networks/firewalls side of things for a bit, to update those skills, then blag my way into IP telephony, which seems to be full of IP wonks with no practical appreciation of telephony, call routing etc, and wouldn't know an Erlang if it stood up in their soup...
You have a training budget? I'm giving taking the money and running a bit of thought, as it'll be tax free I think I could probably survive on it for most of a year if I really tightened my belt... But there's still the issue of finding another job round these parts, that's the tricky bit. Everyone I know has felt like that for the past 3 or 4 years. Hmm, I've got the data networks / firewalls knowledge, but had never considered IP telephony. I wonder if my irrational loathing of telephones would be a negative factor...
That's what's holding me back. I thought it was just us. Bastards. It's not about telephones, it's about routing, capacity, load balancing, and putting together a phone system that people can use without being consumed with rage...
