    First of all thanks for the tips on cleaning out the tank and carbs.

    Now some dumb questions....

    1) How the hell does the ignition switch on the headlight work...IE
    which position is which...I can't experiment at the moment as the
    battery is missing.

    2) is the cup looking thing under the petrol cap a measure for the
    2stroke oil, if so How many per tank full....I know the ratio should
    be 33:1..but I failed maths!

    3) Finally really dumb question...wher the hell doe sthe ignition key
    Go! is it in the steering lock thing?

    I have the Haynes manual but these things are helpfully ommited..and
    the previous owner died so couldmn't tell me (hope thats not an omen)

    PS it's a TS 150

    Cheers

    Platypus...just re read your answer...

    I think the ignition key maybe already in the headlamp..as there does
    look to be a rotary switch in the top...I think the other key I've
    been trying to fing a hole for maybe the steering lock key.....Told
    you I was crap at this! *lol*

    Let me give you some advice before the wrath of Pip unleashes itself
    upon thee.

    1. Snip sigs when you reply (that's everything after the -- at the end
    of posts).

    2. Delete any superfluous text when replying, only leaving enough in to
    maintain context.

    3. Don't eat yellow snow.

  7. If that plastic thing looks like a large light switch, then it's the
    key. Just keep turning it and trying to pull it out on each click, and
    sooner or later you'll get to the Off position.

    All MZs used the same key.

    If you've got a sliding plastic escutcheon, slide it and there's the
    hole for the key.

  10. I have a copy of the workshoppe manual on disk somewhere, I'll see if I
    can find it.[1]
    Yes, there are two measures one for 25 and one for 33, use whichever
    feels right.
    In the hole for the key.

    The ignition switch has a number of positions (I take it youve worked
    out where to put the key)

    Front

    4-------O-----6
    / / | \
    / / | \
    3 2 1 5

    1=Off and key removable
    2=Ignition on
    3=ign and pilot light
    4=ign and headlight
    5=Emergency start position (allows the dynamo to power the ignition
    circuit direct without the battery)
    6=ignition off and pilot light, key removable

    I've got some pdfs of the factory workshop manual on an ftp server but
    it seems to have died and I'm away from it at the moment.

    This may help:
    http://www.mztech.fsnet.co.uk/

    5 litres petrol = 150ml of oil (always leave enough room to put in the
    oil!)

    Make sure the ignition timing is not too advanced (3mm is a bit too
    much) I set it at 2mm.

    Don't know if the ETZ250 manual is any use, but I'm just sticking it up
    on my webserver now.
