Dull [car] insurance follow-up

  1. Back in May, I posted an inswearance question after having the car hit by a
    blind bitch ...

The ukrm consensus was that I was prolly at fault for opening the door into
traffic, which seemed a bit harsh given the circumstances - car parked in
lay-by, door chiselled into front-wing. Nevertheless, I was prepared to
accept the group's admonishment and count myself lucky that my head was
still attached to the rest of me.

The inswearance company dithered, but have now decided to fight [take a bow,
Admiral]. I've just got off the phone with their solicitors, who maintain
that they are going to plonk full liability on the third party. Crucial to
this is that she had damage to the front of her car, which constitutes
evidence that she was indeed driving too fast and too close. Had the damage
been to the side of her car, the balance of probabilities would have been
against me. So, with luck and a following wind I'll be getting my excess
    and NCD back.
