  1. Ebay item 160004866024

Only six quid plus p&p and I had visions of polishing it to a nice shine
and then simply swapping it over with my existing one. Oh, and I was a
    bit pissed at the time.

Anyway, sure, the kickstart hole has no damage, but the bush that sits
in it is totally nadgered with signs of severe butchery - it's been
semi-forced out - and the oil seal that sits behind it is buggered. So
    it's useless.

Thoughts? The bloke hasn't replied to my message sent yesterday evening,
so I'll give him some more time. To be fair, if you look at the cover
from the inside, it seems fine, but from the other side, the damage is
*very* evident. He might just not have noticed it, and his FB is good.

I also have a feeling that Paypal doesn't play ball if you receive the
goods and they're defective - only if you don't receive them at all.
    Right?

If I get a reply from him saying: "Well, the hole is fine, like I said.
I just didn't mention the bush...." then I feel my Angry Neg Generator
    might crank into life.

Can you fit a new seal? it and bush should be replaceable, assuming you
can get hold of one. I think the seller just assumed you would expect to
fit a new one, the old one having been shot blasted and probably not
    much good.

  3. The auction page says it's in good condition. It isn't. This is quite
serious damage - I've never heard of it happening before. We're talking
a seriously mangled bush, pushed several millimetres out of the hole as
well. Christ knows how it happened.

Sod repairing it - if it's damaged, the auction page should say so,
    IMHO.

A more honest listing would have been....
cover in good condition but likely to require a new seal & bush.

  7. Because you can select it (using Ctrl-C if your OS requires it), click
The way most people access ebay seems to preclude such simple URLs.

Any news posting client worth its salt should recognise a URL for what it
is and leave well alone, or at least enclose it <thus> to better ensure
that it's recognised by any newsreader worth its salt.

  9. but they're easy enough to trim down to that if you do it at all regularly.

I made this comment some time ago though and everyone said I was an idle
cnut. They were right, of course.

  10. I have this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=

on my personal toolbar. it's the work of a moment to paste and item number
into it, which I do to post them and also to look at item-no only links. if
you launch it with no number, it just returns "invalid item" - the link
above then appears in the address bar ready to paste an item no into.

  11. Well, seller replied to emails and his FB is good. Her said he hadn't
noticed the damaged bush as the cover had been in his loft for so long.
Said he really didn't want the item back as it was cheap and postage was
almost as much as the item cost, and so offered me a refund of purchase
price, but not p&p, and I keep the item.

Seems fair so I said yes.

Feck knows what I'm going to do with it, though. Plant stand, I guess.

I wouldn't use it as a plant stand if it's got a damaged bush...
