From the press release about Ducati Corse 2005: This project, which has
come about due to the two companies' joint commitment to specifically
develop [Bridgestone] tyres, will see Japanese rider Shinichi Itoh
become official test-rider and will involve a group of dedicated
technicians, including a Ducati Corse engineer.

Itoh has been a Honda man for as long as I can remember. Poaching him
for bike and tyre test duties is quite a coup.

Quite so. I'd sort of assumed that Itoh had been genetically
    engineered and cloned by Honda.

We mustn't show up the kids; they're trying to go fast like us! ;-)

Actually, the high sides on radials look fearsome.

Absolutely nothing. It's only that Itoh will not be 50 until 2016. That's a
    while.

Meanwhile, I intend to peak at that age several years down the line... :)
There's little reason not to be a very fit 50 these days, really, even though
overall perception is still governed by obsolete perceptions of age.
