I have always been paid to do it. Volunteers? So you weren't properly
    qualified to instruct anyway then.
Who GAF? You don't understand this ng any better than you understand
    your own life do you?

You wouldn't know hard work if it slapped you around the face with a

We were certified instructors (read that any way you want). We were
paid petrol money IIRC, but that was it.
I just thought you might like to give the OP the benefit of your
twentysomething years in the saddle. After all, there's not much point
in being an IAM/DAS/CBT experienced instructor if you don't GAF about
    helping folk, is there?

Even if I had the skill to teach people the ways of #two, I would only be
able to do it for a short time, before wanting to kill people. :)

I have no views on what bike the OP should buy - it's his own choice. I
don't know if he's big or small, wants to commute 2 miles a day or 200,
likes the sound of single cylinder diesels or 6 cylinder methanol
    engines...

How fast does he want to go? On straight roads or unmettalled mountain
    tracks?

How can I advise him? Only he knows what he wants, what he really
    really wants...

Well, the monster does have the disadvantage of my not inconsiderable
    bulk on it :}

IMHHO it's fast enough for newbies to get into trouble, and good
enough for them to learn ho to get out of it, and not do it again.
There may be other biles that do that as well, if not better, but I
    liked it :)

It was the 620i I had too. IIRC, which I'm sure I do, I did get over
the 80mph mark on it. However, the clutch was heavy, it was unpleasnat
in town and just didn't move as well on the country roads as the SV IMHO.
