  3. The Doctor and I used to go to their annual V-Twin Rally at Shaftesbury,
and it was *always* a splendid and civilised do[1].

It's open to 'other' V-twins, and the Duke qualifies. I might go again.

I recall one year when a lovely Vincent Black Shadow won the Concours
d'Elegance, only to be supplanted by a different winner, announced over
the Tannoy, a few minutes later. Turned out the Vincent owner wasn't
actually attending the rally, but had taken the Shadow to Shaftesbury in
a van, and slipped it into the C d'E as an exercise in pot-hunting.

I promise I'm not making this up. Honest.

I've never regarded Vincent owners in quite the same light since.

  4. Having owned several[1], I will own another. What I actually want is a
Le Mans Mark Two, and I've bid on a few on Ebay, but never won one.

[1] Two Spadas, a V50 and a V50 Monza. The Doctor has owned a couple,
    too[2]
    [2] V50 and V50 Monza.

  6. I may have mentioned that, one day, I will own a Guzzi.[/QUOTE]

Wish I'd kept mine. It was a box of bits in the end.

  8. ISTR that at the V-twin rally, other bike owners were alowed to attend,
but anything other than a forked pair of cylinders had to park outside
    the main field.

    Fairy nuff, I thought.

    Eh?

How does a K&N crankcase breather filter produce more power?

The SV650 boys (and girls, of course) are actually a sterling bunch, if
a little thin-skinned and liable to fall off at the slightest
provocation (such as a long, well surfaced straight).

K&N crankcase breathers lead to a drop in power as they vent
to atmosphere rather than into the closed-circuit oil vent
system that is used as standard.
