Ducati 620 monster help

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Jason Burton-Woods, Jul 18, 2004.

  1. Gday again,

I'm about to look at a Monster 620 that was built 12/2001, could this mean
it has the 02 specs (I think in 02 the monster took on Fuel injection).

Reason I ask is i've seen a few Jap bikes that have had this trait of taking
the next years specs during the last month of the prior year - so I'm now
not 100% sure if it is the 01 model.

I have a couple of low res pictures already, would there be any obvious
differences to be able to spot that its a 01 or 02 model. (no - cant make
    out the CP info either!)

I cant make out if the front suspension has adjustability - I know that was
new for 02... they both seemed to have 320's and dual pot brembos..

I know - all I need to do is go look at it, but I cant get there for
another week, the person selling is no use since they're selling it on the
owners behalf - they really have no idea.

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks

if it is a 620 its definitely an efi model.
    the 600 were carbed.
and ignore biggus and hatz as they are one and the same and very multi
    personalitied

  5. Thanks for the heads up :)

I appreciate that, good stuff, so to clarify, did EFI only come out in 02
    ?

Not sure about years, but the 600 was carby then the 620 came out with efi,
so it's one or the other, not both.

  8. Excellent, thanks !

Is there anything obvious from the outside to look for to see if it is the
EFI version, I cant make out the writing under the seat, there seems to be
a gold throttle rocker, previous to this it didnt seem so noticable, also
the seemingly older models had what looks like a vacuum disc placed
vertically in the same area, would that be a sign of a non EFI bike?

If you look for EFI but see carbies, it's a carby model. Conversely.......

    If it's a 620, it's EFI. If it's a 600, it's not a 620.

you arent listening real well are ya ??

if it is a 620 then it is efi

the 600 had carbs , 620 went EFI with a power gain

    lift the tank
    it reveals all.
the tank is hinged and easy to lift with one bolt removed.
You will either see throttle bodies and the injectors or you'll see carbs.
but if it says 620 then rest assured it's efi.

  17. not on me sir, I was paying attention, I was sir !! I havent seen the
bike yet, so Im hoping that the carbys will be obvious.. I guess being a
totally naked bike they *should* be... until I read that post describing
the tank being lifted, good stuff.. now I can tell for certain. Thanks
    Smee.

    Thanks all.
