We had one[1] when we were skiing around BC and Alberta in Canada last xmas. The dog's danglies, it was. A proper man's truck. Well why you'd want one if you lived in Florida beats me anyway. Evidently the locals don't know how to drive, either, whereas in Canada you either learnb to drive or you die. [1] Just the standard 5.7l V8 hemi. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Try overtaking a convoy of caravan-towing Mundanos in a Kangoo, mind. I'd have had you down as a Renault Twingo guy, mind. I wouldn't buy a Cayenne either, the VW Toureg is a much better proposition, especially with the 5.7l turbodiesel motor. It's also interesting to see where people stand on the Scooby-v-Evo debate.
There we disagree. It's nothing to do with "using the performance" (Porsche Cayenne's never get taken off road either, anyway). I just think the DB9 looks quietly "british".
I wouldn't buy either, preferring to stay with a car-based solution (e.g. the Volvo XC70, not the 90), but I was struck today by the similarities between the two vehicles you mention. Do they actually share a common root? -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) \`\ | /`/ GSX-R1000K3 `\\ | //' BOTAFOT#3, SbS#2, UKRMMA#13, DFV#8, SKA#2 `\|/` `
Ace says... There were loads of huge SUVs in Florida, they seem to have taken over from the Lincoln town car as the biddie-mobile of choice.
slight bodywork differences[1] and different engine options. Badge engineering at it's finest. [1] the Tuareg is the better looking vehicle, IMO.
oh, come one - one of the most "important issues" in mid-sized tarted-up car debates. IMO, the scooby looks like the tarted up shopping trolley it is; the Evo rocks.
Well, me neither, TBH. I *think* the Impreza is cheaper (certainly if you get one from Trade Sales in Slough), so it fit better into my quick "what can you buy for the price of a Cayenne" calculation
fucking hell - they're much cheaper than that; from Autotrader: "2004 04 Reg Mitsubishi L200 2477 cc TD 4WD LWB, Pick-up, Diesel, 4,261 miles, White. Demonstration Model. £8,500. "
Agreed, in the same wonderful way that the Bentley Continental GT looks "british". It's not very large, and it sits on the road all unobtrusive-like until given welly - and then it flies like ordure from a manually-operated trenching-tool. Whereas the RR Phantom - to take a luxury car designed at much the same time - just looks like an absurdly mis-shapen barge. It doesn't have a single quarter which doesn't look woefully wrong. It's like a 1930s schoolboy's doodled imaging of the way cars will look in the future, informed only by the way the Phantom III looked then. No wonder that they are only selling in penny-numbers compared with the other big limousines.
Véritable Rosbif says... Unlike the Aston Martin Vanquish with the reg W9NGA [1] I've just seen heading up High Holborn. Now that shouted 'LOOK AT ME!' The front end reminds me of an 80's Lada [1] With the plate subtlety changed to make it look like WONGA.
*snort* The DB9 isn't quietly anything! and British Built isn't a great advert for a car in 2005. Sure TVR are nice but I still think folk are mad buying new ones, troublesome beasts. 'Hog
The main differentiator is the suspension tuning, I'd be surprised if someone isn't offering a VW upgrade to Cayenne standard. In that case the VW with the giant diesel option would be a blinder. Their off road biased 4x4 systems don't seem to like tarmac, BIG oversteer. 'Hog
Aha. Thought as much. Presumably the VW is somewhat cheaper? Marginally, yes, although it's still ugly as sin. -- _______ ..'_/_|_\_'. Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) \`\ | /`/ GSX-R1000K3 `\\ | //' BOTAFOT#3, SbS#2, UKRMMA#13, DFV#8, SKA#2 `\|/` `
struggled to ejaculate: The issues I'm aware of with such vehicles is that they tend to be badly driven, fitted with ludicrous exhausts and ICE - and that the owners/drivers tend to be of the annoying scum variety. GAF.
[Mitsubishi L200 Warrior in black.] well, I was kinda joking about the gun rack. Oh yes. A lockable roller-shutter cover would be handy too.
I'll bet that is an ex-VAT price and is it definately a Warrior? In fact it can't be because you can only get them in silver and black. Standard farmer L200s start at pennies.
