Dry roads, clear skies....

  1. That's largely the point. "Proper" Porsche drivers you can understand.
But buying a Cayenne isn't about driving fast, because no bugger seems
to. It's about making a statement, and I don't necessarily like the
    statement being made.

Well, the weather held, so I went out for another blast - maybe I'll wash it
    tomorrow....

  3. You don't like scooters and scooterists. Some people don't like Porsche
Cayennes or the people who drive them.

Neither standpoint is exactly rational, but this is ukrm, after all.....

Aye. I bought my TDM850 in similar circumstances. And my Guild
12-string. And quite a few other indulgences.
Eventually. In my case it just meant a bigger tax bill when I finally
    got round to doing some accounts two years later :-}
I was already living with Jude and unofficially engaged by the time
    the final decree came through.

Sounds like a case of gross exaggeration. Colleagues reckon that the
first time failure rate is probably in the 20-30% range, which I guess
is similar to the UK, and there is certainly no requirement for a
psychological referral after a first-time fail.

But it is possible, apparently, after failing 3-4 times that a
psychologist might be recommended. So it probably is Switzerland
you've heard about, but someone's been misinformed.

There's one down the road from my office. I saw it this morning on
the way to the doctor's surgery (I seem to have picked up an ear
    infection on my travels).

There's one that does the Stag party hire circuit on Brighton seafront.
Hardly surprising its popular given the Humvee's homo erotic connotations.

Dodgy swimming pools? This is a very common occurrence if the pools
chlorine (or whatever is used) levels are not kept high enough.

Sounds more to me like jealousy that someone has the ability to spend
60k on a car that you don't like.

I want one of them. Mitsubishi L200 Warrior in black.

Perfect for going mountain biking because I can just sling everything
    on the back.

I won't deny that there may be an element of jealousy, but I think it
includes part of the old fashioned english disdain of ostentation.
Sure, if you can afford 60k on a car then fine, but there's no need to
show off about it - buy an Aston Martin, or something understated,
    there's a good chap.
