I see your Blackbird and raise you a 250kg Pan which has just fallen
    on a CB550.

    And broken the side panel.

While I can work out most of the words in this, I can't get the
    meaning. And neither can Babelfish.

    So. what's it say?

Andrea Camilleri, Italy's best-selling author ever, taught in the
Italian national cinema school in the 60s. In 1968, the students took
the place over and expelled all the staff except for him. Because they
felt oppressed by time discipline, they also broke the clock and the
horn which sounded to mark the end of lectures. Camilleri put up a
note saying he would hold his class at 9:00 as usual. They started
turning up after 11:00. He put up a second note:

The difference between a revolutionary and a waster. The
revolutionary breaks the clock and instead of arriving at nine,
arrives at five to. The waster breaks the clock and gets up at
    eleven.

Must have been an RD250A if it only had 5 gears. 6th was in the box
somewhere and could be released with a little work, but not using the
method explained by Motorcycle Mechanics magazine.

before I rode off for the first time ever.

Heh, I remember that article. The only time you got any appreciable
amount of engine braking from a 2 stroke.

Yep, that's the one. One of the lads in our village did it to his almost
new RD250A. It locked the back wheel and pitched him off at about 90
straight into a tree. He broke an arm and a leg, the bike was written
off. 2 months later he had another brand new one which he asked the
dealer to do the 6th gear mod on.

That's the one, I think there were a few red faces at Motorcycle
Mechanics over it, and a few brown trousers among RD250 riders.

There was a way of doing it properly, that's the bit Mechanics got
    wrong.

  11. No, but I did spot him and my mother dancing on the pavement when I got
    to the main road.

  14. Not really - just the opportunity hasn't really presented itself yet.
