Drip... drip... drip...

  1. **** me, that was wet.

A leisurely trundle home from Cornwall has been accomplished in my own
inimitable[1] style. I eschewed the lure of the A303 and went A30,
M5[2], Cheltenham, Chipping Wossname, Aynho, MK, Home.

And it pissed down all the fucking way. The Blingmobile's screen was
totally opaque by halfway, so I couldn't see a thing[3]. And the
misfire's getting worse. And water got into the radio, so it started
tuning itself into random stations, then turning the volume up and down.
All in all, not the pleasantest of trips.

Nonetheless, an excellent couple of days in the finest of company. Thank
    you, one and all.

Oh, and Champ? Your Weather God status is hereby rescinded. There will
be no severance payment for this one, either, you're sacked on the
    grounds of incompetence.

    [2] Disaster area. Big time.
[3] Red glare gets brighter, slow down. Red glare gets dimmer, speed up.
Red glare gets *really* bright, overtake.

Well I had a pleasant blast out on the TL this hazily sunny morning.
    Just thought I'd mention that.

I spent the day mostly in the garage, fiddling with the Zephyr whilst it
    rained.

Well, if you'd peeled off the M5 just north of Drizzle, you could have
gotten warm, dry and refreshed, and either stopped over or continued on your
    way with renewed enthusiasm.

It was considered, but my phone battery was flat, so I couldn't call and
    I can't remember your address.

It's got a socket. And I've got a charger. But the two were several
    hundred miles apart.

It seemed a bit silly to ride home, get the charger, charge the phone,
then ride back to Platy's for a cuppa.

My understanding is that Champ was the only person in the whole of Cornwall
    with a working phone.
Now, if you'd been on a certain Goldwing, you could have punched up the
appropriate waypoint and been led to the door with uncanny[1] accuracy.

[1]Dodger is the only person I know who gets reliable navigation out of a
    GPS.

Well *of course* I have GPS, you foolish monotreme.

Regrettably "Platy's Place, Brizzle" is not in its database.

I regard this as an omission on your part. Deal with it.

God, that's a poor choice of address to not have committed to memory.

After my last stopover though (late night, short notice), next time he
moves, he may neglect to leave a forwarding address :)
