I dunno, never tried any of them apart from D204s, which were utter
    fucking pants on my Firestorm.

  3. Ah right. The rest are probably of equal quality then.

Well what do I fucking know about 'touring' or 'winter' tyres?

I'd stick on extrasuperfuckingbastardhotcorsa's every time, but I know
they're wrong in winter, but I use a fucking Mondeo in winter...

Or the CRM wot had tyres of the type 'big blocky fucker', whatever the
    brand.... :)

Whinging Courier emerged from their own little world to say
They are all old hat. I'd want to know when or where they were made.
It's possible that they are made in somewhere like Poland with redundant
tooling from the home factory. If they date from the eras mentioned
    below then steer clear.

I know someone who bought some Avon Gripsters recently. The Avon website
has no record of them - they were THE large trailie tyre before radials
came along in the mid 90s. Turned out they had been made in S America
under licence. I think they have been okay.

Hi-sports were okay - OE fitment on my 1999 CBR6. Better on the CBR than
Pirelli Dragon GTS but not as good as Bridgestone BT010

D204 were okay in 1995 on my VFR750FR. Preferred the BT57 (BT020 now).

Dragon GTS seemed superb on my VFR750FJ in 1993 - first use of radials
on this bike. Previously had been Metz cross plies.

On the CBR1000, my guess is that either the D204 or Dragon GTS would be
most suitable as they are sports touring tyres.

I don't either, we'd better strike that idea off.

  11. The 'old hat' bit I can get but the bit about where they're made, well,
they could tell me anything and I'd be none the wiser.
OK, so tyres have been stored for a few years? I read in one of the mags
that anything that's over five years old is going to be well on the way
    to being iffy.
I used to like the ol' 020s, remarkably good grip and they made that
frazzly look on the edge of the tyre that makes you look like a riding
    god.
Hmm. I appreciate your wisdom but I'm still undecided.

I suppose if it's going to be freezing cold and pissing down with rain
for the next five or six months, it doesn't really matter what I buy.

Loz slagged off the D204s and I'm happy with that assessment so I'll get
a look at the Dragon GTS when I'm down.

Lozzo was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
That'll make it rather quiet in here, don't you think?
