Baker. Without a doubt. No questions. Can't be beaten. Mind you, I
don't remember Pertwee too much (I did see it as a nipper [1]), as I'm
not as old as you, Mr C. ;-)

[1] My mothers favourite story, is that I used to hide behind the sofa
when the title music came on, and then pop out from behind, to watch
    the show afterwards.

Absolutely. It might be because I grew up with him as 'The Doctor', but
he certainly sticks in my mind as being the best of the bunch. Perhaps
Patrick Trouton, but I didn't see any of those, I also grew up with Jon
    Pertwee in the part too.

In other words, it's *still* rubbish.

I was surprised by her, actually - better than I expected and you can
see why people talked of the chemistry with Eccleston - there were a
couple of little things that looked very 'natural'. He on the other
hand... I've liked him as an actor for ages but he's not making any
    effort here.

And what have they done to the theme music? It's way too quiet, it
should blast out at you - it's the bloody awful background music they
    should have turned down.

Sadly, though, I jumped more when they announced a news flash
immediately afterwards as I tend to assume air disasters or terrorism,
or at the bare minimum the Pope popping off.

Davies has already impressed diehard fans by writing a Doctor Who novel
and mentioning the show in his 1999 TV series Queer As Folk.

"I never once doubted their appointment," says Mr Wainer. "They have
already worked together on The Second Coming, a fantastic TV drama and a
tremendous parallel for the new Doctor Who series."

Programme-makers have hinted that the show will be brought up-to-date
with dynamic storylines, impressive special effects and a little sexual
tension from the Doctor's companion Rose, played by Billie Piper.

"It could alienate some viewers if it focuses too much on the personal
    relationship side," says Mr Chandos.

"One of the reasons why Doctor Who has so many gay fans is that the
programme has never been overtly heterosexual, and it has portrayed the
Doctor as a bit of an outsider."

That's the official line. I liked and watched Doctor Who long before I
    worked out my sexuality.

Not bad, but IMO he doesn'r project that image of being totally over the
    horizon in terms of sanity.

Never heard his autobiography, but I agree whole heartedly. Even his ads

No, the raving capitalist with a taxation fear.

IIIRC he actually was Iranian. Quite famous, but damned if I can remember
his name and googling at this stage of malt consumption is coming up blank.
