The B17 and B24 are back at NASA Ames this week. I love the sound of
    those radial engines.

That's why I always say never to camp at Donington - that goes
    on all bloody night!

As for the noise limit, I'm surprised that they didn't check the
bikes before you were allowed on track if it was a 98dB day. Although
this and the fact that the BSB lot were out on track too leads me
to believe it was a Focussed Events day, in which case nothing
they do would surprise me, tbh.

My view on that issue is that if you lived there before trackdays
really took off then you're entitled to a hefty wedge of compensation
but if you moved there more recently then deal with it and shut the
    **** up.

  9. Not just circuits - our site gets grumbles and as for Shoeburyness,
the worst whingers are the retired army types who you'd imagine would
    be more tolerant.

It might have been a Father Ted moment, but it really did look farking
    immense.

Unfortunately for the circuit operators common law regarding nuisance is
    a bit more complicated.

    Or DC8.

Praps it was a Shackleton. Or a Beveley. Or a Hastings. Or even a
    Belfast.

A cargo hang-glider carrying four washing machine drums. No doubt about
    it.

East Midlands does a lot of airfreight work, my money would be on a 747
freight conversion. Most of the "Classic" 747s (-100 to -300) 747s have
been retired from passenger service due to old age and noise regulations.
Those with a decent number of hours left on the airframe get converted
for freight, the rest get scrapped.

Noisy buggers and they are usually loaded to the max which makes it worse.
    Only a guess though.
