Just found out how much they're charging for MotoGP tickets this year:

    £37.50!

Jesus christ, it was 20 quid in 2001. They can **** right off.

IIRC, my memory is getting rather old, I paid at least £25 for a GP ticket
in 1990. But that was the days of real racers, Rainey, Schwantz, some other
    guys...........

Considering the price of music concerts, F1 races the like, this seems a
    bargain.

I paid £120 to watch on the BBC.

Okay I get a load of other crap throw in as well for the rest of the year,
    but anyway.

Are you *sure*? I think it was more than 20 quid in the early 90s.
Mind you, they might have slashed the prices to try and address the
slump in attendances during the Foggy-fever years.

Still, they'll be plenty of folk willing to pay 37.50 to see the best
riders in the world. You stay at home and watch it on TV if you like.

That may of been it, I remember there wasn't a huge attendance in '00
either. I'm still going, just a bit shocked at paying nigh on 80 quid
for a day out with SWMBO.

    Who? Wha?

This might have made a bit more sense had you bothered to quote at

It's not like you can't afford it given what we're paying you! :)

BTW general question to the masses I'm planning on going on the Thursday
and maybe practice or qualifying day. Should be alright to pay on the
    door on those days yes/no?

    Cheers

Is that not a weekend ticket?

Anyway, stop moaning. There are literally hundreds of thousands of
idiots in this country that pay that for a sporting event that only
    lasts 90 minutes, every week.

How much more? I'm not sure when I'm going so if I book ahead and then
don't go surely I'll lose more than an extra say 10% by turning up?

Nearly 20 quid more on the day.

I'd be going and be booking in advance apart from the slight
inconvenience that I'll be on my honeymoon then.

Still get to see it on tv though.

But only for the GP day though, if I go on the Friday it's only 12 and
has the advantage that I can take no1 son who's dying to go and see
    Valertino :)
    Sure you will :)

I've been on full weekends before[1] and to be honest, found it a bit
boring. I really only watch the 500 race anyway. Plus I actually
find racing spectating a bit boring. Watching tv you get to see all
of the action rather than just the corner you happen to be sat at.
Many a time I've been to the GP and then come home and watched it on
    Eurosport.
Oh, I will. It's the second week of the honeymoon...

[1] Shame I can't get free paddock/pit and hospitality any more. That
was good, especially the free beer.

I agree to be honest I'd rather watch the race on TV but on the other
hand it would be nice to be there for something and to see & hear the
bikes. Which is why I thought of going on practice day instead,
especially as this would be a day off work as well :)
Heh :). You'll be recovering that week I guess!
I've got a mate sorting me out some hospitality for one of the BSB
rounds, she's got a rellie who works for one of the Supersport teams.
