    she was a poor-looking eastern-european type - I doubt she'd have
household insurance (if even a house) - why'd I want to **** her over
for the sake of an extra scratch on an already very scratched bike?

    still nothing.

    You weren't putting "cum-guzzling spring-break cheerleaders sucking
viagra and C!alis" or something in the subject, were you?

Hmm, for the mortgage, I was obliged to take out insurance and even for
the flat I rented before that, I was obliged.

So you wouldn't even **** her, as a way of claiming compensation?

  5. What, buildings insurance or household insurance? They're two different
    things.

Buildings insurance is pretty much obligatory, but household insurance -
typicaly, burglary, accidental damage, and losses outside the home, plus
    third party damage, certainly isn't.

I'm getting mixed up with the place we rented and the house we've
bought. I've nattered to SWMBO about this and she's cleared the mist.

We were obliged to take out contents insurance (and building insurance)
on the flat I rented, as there were things that belonged to the
landlady, so the agency had a clause in the contract that said that we
    had to do this.

The house we're in now we're not obliged to take contents insurance,
but for the sake of a few quid each year, it's piece of mind. Esp. as
    it is pretty comprehensive.

I bowled over a chap crossing the road talking on his mobile; nothing I
could do except sit as a passenger as the ugly MZ Trophy homed in for the
    inexorable collision.

I landed awkwardly on a tea mug (fucking crippling myself for a
fortnight), whacking my helmet and destroying my Psion Revo. I suppose I
could have claimed, I had a witness, but he probably didn't have house
insurance and there's the issue of the rather rudimentary brakes on the
ES and the whole motor vehicle v. pedestrian.

I did report it to the Dibbles but they didn't seem that bothered.

rec.cycling recently seemed to be expressing the view that roads were
legitimate playgrounds because they were open space.
