The last couple of days have seen an unusually high number of high powered
bikes (including 600cbrsport) nicked from South East England. The fuckers
are breaking into people's houses, usually by way of a nicely left open
window to climb through, grabbing the bike keys and riding off. They've even
been nice enough to take the lid and leathers while there to look the part
    whilst riding their new toy.
    HIDE YOUR BLOODY KEYS!!!!

My uncle had an attempted theft of his bikes. They broke the front door
of his garage and then tried to prize the top with a screwdriver. They
were obviously disturbed [1] and he's lucky to still have his bikes [2].
This was in broad daylight [3] and a very busy street.
This was also in sunny Essex, and not really heard of around this area.

[1]As anyone is who does this sort of thing.
[2]None of the bikes have keys.
[3]There's normally a car parked up in front of the garage, but this was
the rare occasion that both his wife and he were out.

    Funny that.

Someone attempted to break into my garage shortly after I'd got a new V5.

    I'm sure it's a just a wild coincidence.

Oops; you seem to have mis-spelled 'crooked **** of a postman'.

Not really, the DVLA is based in Swansea. The home of vehicle theft.

Eh? Why on earth would it be the postman?
He'd had to have opened the letter to know there was a motorcycle registered
at the address - it wasn't.

It's the DVLA and the DVLA alone that my suspicions lie with.

Oh, it could easily have been someone at the DVLA, but that's Swansea
    and you're not, afair.

There are far more thieves working at the PO than there used to be. PO
Investigations used to take missing mail and interference of the mail
quite seriously, but these days with any **** passing in the street
being taken on as temporary staff, the incidence of missing and
interfered-with mail is much higher. I don't necessarily mean the
postman on your round, it might well have been somewhere else up the
    line.

All this doesn't help the majority of conscientious, honest and (mostly)
hard-working postal staff; it's hardly surprising they get pissed off
    with that and other things.

With modern communication and a nationwide network of thieves (hardly out of
the bounds of possibilities) I would have thought it very easy for someone
in Swansea to email their mate a list of addresses in an area and the bikes
at those addresses which can then be used to organise a 'collection'.

Almost easier (and much less obvious) than steaming/ripping open a letter.
