Does this worry anyone?

    Paranoia ?

Wanting to have a bit of privacy in this age of targeted marketing fed
by a profile of you gleaned from the electronic trail you leave.

Another reason, which is not related to the profiling data one, is
simply an inability to resist the hard sell of debt (credit). The banks
and credit card companies have a very accurate profile of me in that
respect and I'm a sucker to the system everytime :-(

No - gives me the chance to mess with their minds when I buy the really
cheap shit one week and then splash out on the Bolinger the week after.

    Makes shopping more challenging :)

  4. Wait till you get profile matched by plod who don't know what they are
doing. I could seriously screw up a persons life.

    fit into Band C10"...

Isn't that prescriptive, rather than prohibitive?

I've been told by "someone who should know" that they (it might have
been Sainsbury's) use the fluorescent lighting, somehow making it
    flicker.

I'm still sceptical, but it's what I've been told.

    Sorry for the delay.

The way they are carrying on and using , shall we say, undue influence on
both local authorities and suppliers they will push down the prices to
such an extent that there'll be a clamour to 'reduce red tape' to allow
the smaller fish to compete which in turn gives them greater leverage and
so the cycle begins. It will end, IMO, with the consumer impoverished as
the choice will be dictated by the supplier.

That's before we get onto the negative effects of supermarkets on town
    planning.

  17. You forgot the "bing bong, Southern would like to blame Network Rail for
the late arrival of this post".
OK I had got part of the way with that argument but had missed the
    "remove the red tape" bit.
Well I don't think I'll start that one again as I was somewhat
castigated by the cognoscenti on the group for making that observation.

BTW were you driving the empty stock working into Victoria that formed
the 18.27 to Horsham last night? Not having met you and working solely
from photographs of you (that you've posted) I did wonder if it was you
    or not.

WEll exactly - everytime they send you out some crap offer that they THINK
you'll like - you effectively score a point. They spent money sending it,
    you threw it away.

Having worked with marketing departments this would make me very happy. Then
again, maybe I'm just sad in viewing it like that.

No, although I'm sure my constituents would be keen to hear some
eyewitness evidence that I actually drive trains.

Kind of hoping they go ahead with it so I can work from home ;-)
