does anyone out there have knowledge of knowsley expressway and cameras?

  1. SO was driving the car down the Knowsley Expressway this afternoon.
She went past a sign saying "no right turn - offenders will be
prosecuted". Surely enough there is a gap in the central reservation
    shortly after.

She needed to change direction and 2 miles down the road there was
another gap. Cleverly [1] she used this gap to turn around (into
roadworks [2]). There was no sign at this gap, however.

Slightly ahead of this there was a tripod mounted by the side of the
road with a (apparrently empty) car next to it. As she passed it, it
    had a blinking red light.

Does anybody know if this type of device would be recording images for
this kind of infraction, or is it likley to be a speed camera.

If it is likely that this tripod camera was there for illegal right
turners, what would be the likely penalty?

[1] Not really clever, on reflection
    [2] See [1]!

Take a pic of *that* area and if a NIP ensues point out there is no sign as
shown in your picture dated/timed at the scene
Could've been a Surveyors Theodolite thingy

SO has just informed me there was a "triangular thing" on a tripod on
the opposite carraigeway (would have been a massive warning sign to me
    but there you go!!).

Will take photos in preparation for NIP!

As long as she wasn't a speeding... :)

I know plod has been hunting on Speke Road and Speke Boulevard lately,
but I've only seen them with the scamera van, never a mini Gatso.
It's been over 18 months since I last saw a mini Gatso. Not that it's
    any consolation.

I don't use the Knowsley Expressway often enough to know if there are
    regular traps there.
