Does anybody know of a source for rearsets for VFR 800s

No, that's not a typo and no, the VFR hasn't grown an additional 50cc
    overnight.

Been offered one that I quite liked as part of a deal involving my GS
but the ergonomics are all wrong for me. Bars are fine as the PO fitted
some bar risers but the footpegs are too far forward and too high...

Let's just be brutally honest, all VFR800i's are shit, OK.

I have taken an extensive enough test ride to figure out that the bar
position is OK (due to the risers they're in the same position as on
the 750), vibration wasn't too bad but the position of the footrests is
atrocious. FFS my Ducati is more comfy for me in that respect.

Thanks. Not *quite* what I had in mind ( I was thinking about something
a tad less Heath Robinson) but it may work. Hard to say without trying
but 23mm is a lot. Of course they don't seem to be able to a longer
    gear lever for non-VTEC models.

They've got some other interesting 'bodges' in their shop, like the kit
to mount the reg/rect in a cooler place...

The only references I can reliably find for VFR800 rearsets are for
Harris items, which appear to be out of production, but were horribly
    expensive anyway.

I'm kind of interested in risers for mine, 'cos I appear to be getting
old and creaky. I've even considered chopping it for a Pan / FJR /
    K-series recently.

Don't do it. Buy an 800, I mean.

I actually quite liked it, but then I'm weird.

It's getting to the point now that prices for Adventures have dropped
so far that I may as well keep the effing thing instead of throwing
    away around three grand.

That's a bit neg but I guess I'll just use the VFR as a winter hack as
I was planning anyway and either try to sell the GS again in spring or
just keep it until it's completely dead.

BTW, picked up the XL this morning. Took a while to get back but it's a
    hoot to ride.

So you're keeping it until spring on both counts?

Well, I maintain that the 1150 is still the better bike...

Anyways, when I bought it the plan was to keep it for three-four years
and at that time, it would be worth eff-all due to the massive mileage.

Due to some changes in circumstances, selling it is/was a sensible
option but as the circumstances are changing again, it may not be
    necessary.

I'll probably stick it on fleabay and see what happens; if I don't get
enough for it I'll probably keep it and sell something else.

I don't like the looks of it either, and the Adventure is even worse.
Plus, the unavailability of the demo bike should tell you something.
Oh, I know that - if I keep it, it'll probably come on the market with
100k+ for a grand or so.
I was more thinking about the Ducati - that's specialised enough to
    still have a market.

  15. So does Niall, whom you've met. He's got one, and tried the 1200, and
didn't like it. The dealer who supplied the test bike candidly told him
that people who knew bikes properly preferred the 1150, too.

  16. If only that were true. As long as they keep farting around with
Multistradas and faux-1970s throwbacks, it will be the death of the
    brand.

  17. Yup - mine did. Especially if I hadn't used it for a week or so. The
vibes did wear off after a couple of hours but not before my right-hand
    foot had gone to sleep.
