Dodgy tire?

I've just been out for a spin on the Bike to the dentist and noticed a
couple of times that the back end tried to kick out (going round
    corners)

I know that the back tyre is getting worn, but there's still enough
tread there. The tyre was cold, but not too bad and the pressure is
    right (checked it yesterday)

The weather's good and the roads dry. Any reasons for it?

    It's a BT020 BTW.

You can't make a sportsbike out of a handbag.

Well, firstly, if it was dry then the amount of tread is meaningless.
    But, to list possibilities:
    - you've got a puncture since yesterday
    - the road/tyre/weather was colder than you think
    - there was something slippy on the road/tyre
    - you're a hamfist

It may be a sportsbike to you, but it's a lardy old rough and rattly
    sports tourer to me.

    Nope. Pressure is still okay.
    Hmm, possible.
Now there's a possibility, as the garage where I park the bike at work
is always covered in shite. I'll see if there was anything I missed in
    the bay I parked in.
    Nah, me? Never? :)

Crap left on the road from the shite weather we've had + the cold tyre?

Why do you make it sound like something bad?

This time of year you don't get even warming throughout the tyre. The
centre could be hot but the edges very cold.

Sussed it, it must be because it is an American Tyre.

Wot he says. By bandit takes about a mile to warm up in these
temperatures meaning that I can spin up the back wheel with relative
    ease.

You obviously don't have the appropriate air of authority.
