let's assume for just a minute that you aren't aware that no 1970
Challengers were ever used on "The Dukes Of Hazzard", but would you go
    for the full-on "Dixie" air-horns[1]?

[1] my cousin had these on a 3-door Ford Escort estate circa 1980 -
    what a dick.

Yeah - I mean, compared to all those other
    comedy/horror/self-referential series, eh?[1]

    [1] Or just "WTF?!")

    In communiqué
You assume correctly, I was thinking "Vanishing Point".

To go a bit earlier, a 1950 Mercury, tastefully dropped and chopped.

    well, let's see:

"American Gothic" - quite enjoyed it, but it was poorly edited and the
episodes were badly ordered, and I guess some would say it wasn't a
    comedy.

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" (and the spin-off, "Angel") - hated both of
those, but they're kid's programmes really

"Being Human" - liked the first series, then got bored

"True Blood" - absolutely love it, but not as much as Supernatural.

    etc.

Of course, some of the above are "knowing" rather than "self-
    referential", I guess.

My first two cars were identical 1966 Chevrolet BelAir 4-door sedans.
    The first had a 283 V-8 and the second had a 250 six. I can't remember
what I paid for the 2nd one but I know the first one was $75. Happy days.

Well, it wasn't a restriction as such, but as darsy mentioned a 1967
Chevy Impala, I chose a car of the same era.

I'm not sure that you then choosing a mid-70s car is entering into the
spirit of things. You might as well have said a 2011 Dodge Viper!

ugly, ugly car, though, no matter how iconic it is for you.
you'll love the music, if nothing else.

It sounds nice, but nothing like a '60s muscle car. If I just heard it
without seeing, I'd say AMG Merc.

I might have to fire the Corvette up at the weekend now & stick
    something on YouTube.

although the show is set "now" (well, a "now" were we're about to have
the armageddon and demons and angels walk the earth) the music is
pretty much exclusively '70s and early '80s rock.

There's a particularly funny episode that does a sort of "Groundhog
Day" thing, where one of the characters is repeatedly woken up on the
same day to an alarmclock-radio playing Asia's "The Heat Of the
    Moment".

Don't let that put you off though ;-)

After two of us had explicitly chosen mid-60s cars!

Anyway, in that time I went from being aged 3 to being aged 9/10, so it
was a big difference to me!

You should exchange punctuation marks with Nige.

  19. My best friend in high school had a XA Falcon hardtop. It was ok but
like most stuff of that vintage was awful in the handling and brakes
department. I preffered my Valiant Charger.

  20. The one out of Cobra was absolutely wonderful. Possibly the only good
    thing in the entire movie.
