And then what, if the form's not allowed to leave the polling station?

Put it in the ballot box.

Make sure you get there a few hours before polling ends.

In my opinion, yes. If one were there on a temporary visa, for a year
or two, then it would be understandable. However, if I was expecting
to spend the rest of my life in that country, I would definitely
become a citizen and get a full set of rights. Are you not expecting
to spend the rest of your life in the UK?

Your pov only works because everybody *else* does determine these
things. If everyone took your view, there would be no civic society.

    So, in essense, you're a free-loader.

    Lol.

Why didn't I think of that?
I only got as far as a poor pun on it being a soiled ballot paper.

uh? Elections are won by votes. Votes are cast by people. If
everyone took your view ("better not risk voting the opposite way of
god") there'd be no election, no democracy, no government. There'd be
    anarchy, in fact.

I don't think I've ever seen a weaker or shakier argument. Tell me
you are doing this to amuse AndyR, please.

By analogy, it could be argued you had dual citizenship.
Do you hold a UK passport?
    If not, would you?

If the answer to either of those questions is "yes", then you do in fact
accept that you are a citizen of this country.

In which case, you have just as much responsibility as the rest of us to
make sure it's a decent place to live.

If you found that all the politicians standing were too immoral for you,
then I could at least see the argument.

I'm thinking that too. They seem to be a bit more up front about how they
might **** us all over. Higher tax rate on people earning six-figure
salaries? Not a problem, just let me *get* a sodding six-figure salary first
    :)

I'm sure that there was something about, "I have given mankind free will,
and it would be wrong to interfere".

    So basically,

    a) Do what the **** you want, God[1] gave you free will for a reason.

    b) How do you know God *doesn't* want you to vote? What if you *not* voting
    frustrates what God has decided?

    c) As Bill Hicks so eloquently put it, "WHAT could oppose Gods will?
NOTHING!". So if God has already decided something, isn't it a bit arrogant
of you to think you can second-guess what he wants?

    What a cop out.

You're on a bit of a loser there, then.
Every decision you make is susceptible to this dilema.
"Should I buy this one or that one?"
God might like Cadbury's chocolate more than Nestle, for example.

How do you know he wanted you to cast these pearls before the swine of ukrm?

    Now there's an idea.

And if RON gains a majority in the Commons, we get to design a new
    political system.

this is a god/religion with no understanding of chaos theory, or even
the principle of cause and effect.

F'r'instance - say the crackpot nonsense you spout in this thread
somehow manages to convince some previously nearly-sane lurker not to
vote, and thereby changing the results of the election away from "what
was god's plan" - what then?

Yes - and this is where the analogy breaks down in that dual
citizenship between God and the world isn't possible.

You miss my point by a country mile.

I'm asking what the benefit is to the democratic process (or, at least,
whether the benefits outweigh the risks), not what benefits would you
offer to entice people to cast an unwanted vote.
