Do I actually need screen beading?

Finally bit the bullet and bought a taller screen for the Pan so I get
less in the way of wind noise. Hopefully.

As the original screen has the usual beading around it, this made me
wonder if there's actually an MOT requirement to have screen beading
    in place?

Timo Geusch emerged from their own little world to say
I got fed up with the beading coming adrift on my 1988 VFR750FJ. I got rid
of it and the bike passed MOTs afterwards.

There is no beading on the OE screen of my GS.

  3. No.

There was beading on the Trophy screen, but it flew off one day when
    travelling at Eeek! mph.

I do, but mine is a proper 'spensive Airblade one.

Mine has stayed in place at Ban+75mph on the M1. All it takes is proper
fitting and a dob of superglue every 3 inches.

    Cane says...
Airblade screens are very well finished, and they come with the rubber
    beading.

  7. I tried a couple of taller screens (+2" and +4") and they were both
worse for wind noise than the original screen... YHBW.
    Nope.

  8. He pretends he's on a Ducati and is just conducting normal
service/breakdown repairs at the standard interval.

That seems to be normal behaviour for Triumph screen beading.

The one cluttering up the garage is supposedly +5". Let's see if that
helps. Noise levels do go down considerably when I duck behind the
standard screen so I hope it'll finally reduce the noise level to 'a
lot more comfy' on longer trips.

  11. Plus 5? I'd watch out under low bridges IIWY.

    I think that's correct.

Some Tiger owners report significantly improved air-flow simply by
    stripping the beading off.
