That's the section I had in mind when seeing the only picture being
broadcast here. The steep cliff between Riva del Garda & Limone gives away
the location (you've circled it on the image).

According to some sites the car was on its way to Gargnano, on the south
west side of the lake. I bet the driver came in from the autostrada at
Rovereto, turned left at Nago-Torbole instead of right and was fiddling
with his sat nav when ... splash

 

Oi tank eee, Sir. I was wondering if I'd been along that road, and that
pic confirms it. Stayed at a hotel a couple of klicks away. Nice view
of the lake in the morning, fuckall else.
