Disposal of binned Bandit

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Darren Robinson, Nov 21, 2003.

  1. As may have penetrated your assorted crania recently, I have the
remains of a crashed Bandit 600 requiring disposal. I have a
potential buyer for it, who is happy to take it lock, stock and broken
barrel; given that it is mine to dispose of, and an economic
write-off, do I have to register it somewhere as defunct, or just pass
it on to the bloke as if selling it normally, with the usual sending
off of the V5 etc.? I'd hate to find out someone's used my bent bike
to ring a bent bike, so to speak.

The insurance company will have entered it on the HPI register.

Does not stop it being used to ring a stolen bike. However the information
that the ringed bike is a supposedly repaired write off will be in the
public domain so caveat emptor on anyone buying a secondhand bike without
    doing the sensible checks.
