Do they have to be "special"? Or five quid each?

I currently swap discs from wheel to wheel as I get tyres replaced,
but this seems a bit like faffing about for my liking. ISTR something
about not re-using these precious items, too.

I was thinking of sticking the original discs back on the "old" wheels
    - do I really need NINETY quids worth of bolts to do this?

Just found a place that has them @ £14 for ten. Much more acceptable.

A standard high tensile bolt/allen of the right size should do.

  4. They do need to be the right grade of steel, for fairly obvious reasons.

Then use button heads instead of standard sockets, ffs.
It's not like it makes any difference if they're the right
    size and tensile strength.

    Just the right tensile strength.
Definitely not. Find out what size they are and then search
t'internet to find somewhere that sells said bolts "loose" at
a reasonable price rather than as a replacement pack for a
    specific bike.
Torquing them up stretches them slightly, so you don't want
to do it too often. You'll be fine re-using some old ones
but I wouldn't want to keep swapping disks about and reusing
    the same ones each time.
    Definitely not.

Maybe Champ is refering to the width of the shoulder in relation to the
thread size? All the disc bolts I've seen have a huge shoulder when compared
to usual bolts ith the same thread.
