breeds, so i've posted this for your info with blessing of author.

    Subject: Fw: DIRT BIKE BLITZ

Off-road riders will be blitzed. News tonight. Contact your local MP. For
your MP's number or email address please call me on 0419 846 855.

This isn't spam. It's about another demonstration of the Victorian
Government's anti motorbike & scooter culture. It's a national problem
because it's spreading. Not interested? Delete now. If you think this
information is important, please pass it on. If you want off my email list,
    please let me know.

The regulators will crackdown hard on dirt bike riders. It will be announced
this week. Responsible Victorian's who should be able to enjoy a
well-regulated, well-organised sport will be treated as vandals and petty
crims by the Bracks Government. It's their new environment policy. So says
the Sunday Herald Sun of July 16.

In April and May 2006, while Bracks, the missus & Co. were spending quarter
of a million tax dollars on the best hotels in the USA, Canada and Asia, the
Premier's bureaucrats were polishing an environment policy document that
could have dire consequences for the entire motorbike & scooter community
and the industry. As in their Transport Strategy for our State in the coming
decade, riders were shunned. Not just overlooked, removed. What's that?

Negligence? Incompetance? Or an antibike culture?
This government has done nothing positve for riders. The antibike culture
removes us from consultation, restricts us in policy and attempts to tax us
    out of existance.

Ignoring consultants, the Victorian Motorcycle Advisory Council (VMAC), the
Australian Motorcycle Trail Riders' Association (AMTRA) and all common
sense, this Government is going to push towards prohibition when when logic
says that prohibition can't work. This country does not have the resources
to police this bureaucrat-driver diaspora even in the short term. And,
search & rescue gets harder, more risky and more costly.
A dirt bike blitz won't protect the environment, it will put more sensitive
areas at risk and destroy young people's respect for the law. It will make
petty crims out of otherwise law-abiding Victorians. It will drive tens of
thousands of riders to more remote (often more sensitve) areas to enjoy what
is recognised and encouraged as a legitimate and healthy sport around the
    world, but not in Victoria.

    We need:

    * Suitable land made available for trail riding and dirt bike tracks.
    * Licence reform to enable current riders who meet standards to ride
    off-road legally.
    * All levels of governmemnt to revive the club scene and encourage family
    involvement.
    * Educative programs and signage.
    * More, better equiped police to enforce no go areas and safe riding. A
bigger police dirt bike squad means better search & rescure and disaster
    capability.
    * Facilities for loading/unloading, parking, toilets etc. in suitable riding
    areas.

If you are angry at the way this government has treated the motorbike &
scooter community be on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne at 1 pm
on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. (TBC)

There will be Protest Rally in Adelaide on Saturday, August 3 over
ridiculous training fees that will increase the unrider problem. The
headline in the Australian Financial Review of December 1, 2004 said. "TAX
    MOTORCYCLES OFF ROADS". Antibike culture?
Victorian riders are urged to head over there to support the run. For more
    information go to www.mrasa.asn.au and www.mraa.org.au .
For confirmation and info on the Melbourne protest go to www.nmcins.com.au

Typical Damien scare-mongering. Type lots of emotive stuff about our liberties as riders being threatened, but not detailing exactly
    how this is being done.

A dirt bike blitz? What is the blitz about? Are they targetting unlicenced riders? Unregistered bikes? Bikes in poor (and therefore
potentially dangerous) condition? People riding in areas they aren't supposed to be in?

If any of those (as examples) then it's not totally unreasonable. Or are they simply hitting people for riding dirtbikes (highly
    unlikely)?

  6. But Moike knows, I've got it, with the silver R100RS superbike on the front
cover. Probably had it 20 years. Cost me $14.99 the label says.

Basic rule of thumb, if DC has had something to do with it, give it a wide berth and treat it with the same disdain most people
    already do.

riggght.. so who gets to determine what the established trails and tracks
    are ?
By that I assume he means people who don't ride bikes ?
That has nothing to do with dirt bike riders, these guys are dickheads,
dickheads are everywhere, from politics, to the police, to cyclists to
car drivers. You can't "legislate" against idiots without seriosuly
damaging the freedoms of the decent rider.

All land managers ever do is close areas down that people have been
riding in for years, then piss and moan about people riding in the areas
being "baddies"... **** 'em. That is the consequence of their own
ability to manage the land, they lock people out, don't give 'em
alternative areas to ride in and then comlplain, symapthy level for their
plight is .. not far above zero. Here's an idea... give people decent
riding area... and what do you know, they ride there... oh wow, what a
    novel fucking idea... sigh
    Trespassing sucks...
When ? Where I ride it's a fait accompli. We HAVE been locked out,
there are NO legal riding areas, on public land, with-in 4 hrs of me.
Bike riders are there own worse enemy, either to busy proving how
individualistic they are. or pissing an moaning about groups that go out
and try something positive. Look in here about the whingers about MRA or
    DSMRA or whatever...

    @yarwho.com.au:

I do, the pipe on my Husky TE 450 is .. stock. I defy anyone (excpet
perhaps an A grade Enduro rider) to be able to use that power in the bush.
Wrong use of resources, you will never catch a 1/2 decent rider on a
dirtbike, how's about giving them areas to ride instead ?

You just go to wherever they parked their utes and trailers and wait for
them to come back. Even a dirt bike rider could have thought of that :)

    Only 5 acres/ 2 hectares. Standard shape would be 200 x 100 metres, so he's
    only 150 metres away.
