Wandering around Wickes earlier when I heard my reg number over the
tannoy. Went to the counter, & there was a biker there waiting to talk
to me. He'd seen white van man hit the side of my Jeep whilst pulling
into a parking space. Biker man left a note on my windscreen, then came
into the shop to track me down, which was jolly nice of him.

Went outside with him to survey the damage, & the van had disappeared,
& the **** had taken the note off my windscreen too. Got a good
description of van & man thanks to Mr Biker, so I'll return the favour
    if I see him.

If he's got the reg, he has legitimate cause to put in a request to DVLA for
    the registered keepers details.

  4. Depends how hard you push .When white van man clouted my brothers car and drove off
the plod did nick him for failing to stop

If Krustys got the registration he could run it through askmid see if its insured or
    not

If I had the reg, I would. But as 'the **** had taken the note off my
    windscreen too', I haven't.

My experience too, until you get your MP to remind the chief constable
    what his job is.

Isn't a Wickes car park private land and not the highway - so the police
have no requirement to get involved ?

  8. They can get involved if it's private land to which the public usually
has access. Or something. So a supermarket car parl, yes, they can get
    involved. I think.

I think you're getting yourself confused there. They may not be able to
do you for speeding or careless driving on private land, but I'm fairly
sure they can do you for criminal damage. If not, I'm gonna go buy an
old banger car & have me some fun in the carparks of Swindon!

Open and shut case of failure to stop, and worth pressing the case for
it to be treated as such given there's a witness.

Failing to stop only applies if someone has been injured AIUI.

True... and if you go down the DVLA info route, I believe they like proof
such as a crime number, to back up your reasoning for needing the details
    concerned.

    Not quite.

You must stop and exchange details with the 3rd party.

If someone is injured then you must report the incident to the police
    within 24 hours.
