I had a 97 V70 2.5TDI Auto, superb car, wish now I had bought it when the
    lease expired.

Maybe in about 3 or 4 years time the price will drop to the 'acceptable'
    region.

That's what Kawasaki called the red used on the early GPz range. My
    KE100 was the same colour.

Nah the 265. My 760 was only a saloon.

A very satisfying feeling. Almost akin to ripping up a handful of
fivers and chucking them out of the window every mile or so.

If your wife & kid was on a & 747 and the pilot was drunk & crash the plane.
You wife & kids died in accident, but pilot survived. You would agree with
me 100%. You will want the pilot killed.

My point *exactly*. I can't see anything that a Jeep can do that
can't be done *much* better by something else.

Oh well, each to their own :) Never liked any of the others either,
just curious as to what people see in them

Hmmm, someone more 'focused' perhaps than I imagine the typical driver
of a large 4x4 to be. Maybe more aware as well.

Certainly more 'classic' Porsche than pointless 4x4 anyways.....

So all this hostility that you have is because of a pilot who survived a
plane crash? Sorry to hear about the wife and kids though, deepest
sympathies and all that but isn't it time to move on?

  15. I was reading one of PJ O'Rourke's books, the other day....

    Um, forget which.

Anyway, he did an essay on the US transport situation, including
aircraft, and asked the FAA how many airliner crashes in the US had been
put down to the pilot being unfit through drink and/or drugs.

    "None".

IIRC, Pilots (and crew?) have to stop drinking 8 hours before a
    flight.

There's a lot of assumptions in there.

Oh, and as per normal a lot of errors.

**** off and get a life, eh?

I learnt to drive in a landrover. I spent my formative years driving
diesel series two landrovers. I've also driven Range Rovers (although
    old ones).

I'd prefer even the gutless 2.5l jeep to either of these.

Don't be. He didn't lose a wife and kid that way. It's only someone
    frogging but who?

    Cane?
