On the telecast on Foxstarts they said that the croud was about 500! I don't
see the race staying there for long with the loss thay'd be making.

  5. I really have no idea about the costs involved, but if I had to guess I
don't think they (the Shieks) would care about losing money, they're
getting international exposure and seemed very content walking amongst the
    riders on the grid.

I think they put US$21 Million into it 12 months ago and thats how it turned
out... overall thats pretty cheap for an international event! I think
they'd have enough to keep that track running...

I'm also pretty sure the gate costs were either non existant, or real cheap
anyway. They would have to be to attract people into the desert ! :)

The track looked pretty flat, just one big oval with track surface curved
through it... wonder what the riders thought of it... I heard Rossi say its
technical - is that politically correct for "a track with no character"?

  7. told ya I didnt know the figures... doesnt matter, 21 Mil stuck in my head
from the motogp broadcast... Im more likely to have got it wrong than the
broadcasters..US$85 M is a.lot of money in our eyes, but its kinda cheap
for a complex like that still....

"The Losail Racetrack in Qatar is a brand new $58 million facility that only
    recently had its opening ceremony."

That works out about AUS$80 milliion

That seems quite cheap for the circuit.considering the cost for building the
third runway for Sydney Airport was well over AUS$100 million.

For some reason I imagined my tax dollars were paying for your whining,
