I was caging it between the South Bay and Amador County. I heard on
the radio that they had the CHP out in force (reminding me of
something I already knew). My radar detector saved me in one spot on
88, still in Amador County. I usually watch it there, since it is a
speed trap on normal days (sometimes, I think rightly so, with the
idiots who are impatient). I heard on the radio they were enforcing
heavily on 680 down to SJ. Between 84 and 237, I saw one unit had a
guy pulled over. And on the big curve before Mission, I was about to
pull into the fast lane when I spotted a biker a few hundred meters
back. I thought better of it and sdtayed in back of the slow-poke in
front of me in the #3 lane. Lucky I did, as it was a bike cop who
zoomed by a moment later. I didn't see anything on 237 at all, which
is strange since there is usually someone there, but then it was early
    when I came back.

  2. They missed me -- actually, the CHP presence was light (none seen
while I was riding) on CA-35 on my way to and from Alice's from
my home in SF. I just got the Duc back from the shop, expensive
Swedish shock and new paint, and had fueled up with 100 octane
unleaded for fun -- very peppy, very fast, very poor mileage ;-)
Low fuel light came on at 75 mi instead of 100.

I'm not making any public statements regarding my speed, but
a day without triple digits is a day without sunshine, and
an entire day without breaking 150 is a minor disappointment.

    Best regards,
