I'll just get some stick on ones, no one'll notice once we're south of
    Paris.

Right, I think I'll have a punt, not serious money, but a punt.

I am going to *have* to sell at least one of the fleet though, or I may
    never have sex again,

Obviously it's a Yamaha, of course. And XS250s are supposed to be a bit
shite[1], but then most things are shite.

[1] The one I had a go on certainly was.

    Well, I haven't ridden one since... <counts on fingers> about 1982 (the
non-"custom" model) and it was fucking horrible.

So, for the proposed venture, it's fucking perfect.

Heh. I seem to have found a new home for the Drifter, but the guy who's
buying it is selling an FJ1200, which he's suggested I might need to have a
    go on...

LOL! I've just read the ad a bit more closely: Mileage 25K, number of
    previous owners, 10.

I think that says it all.

    I'll have it.

I rode a standard model about six or seven years ago, and it was like a
self-propelled garden gate with a saddle on.
    Oh yes.

Well, I'll either increase the average owner mileage, or feel not even a
twinge of regret as I chuck in a Spanish ditch and head for the nearest

The one I rode about the same time had rubber mounted bars that moved
about 2" in a variety of directions before any steering input was
    applied to the wheel.

  15. Gibbo took one on the SOB run to the Bol.

Awful carbs, sluggish performance[1], economical, utterly
indestructible, some twonk will bid more than it's worth "because it
    looks like a Harley".

"I think the carbs need cleaning" is a sign to run a mile.

    [1] Unless you're Gibbo.

    TFFT.

Mined ewe, I thought 200 sovs was a pretty generous bid for it.

I'll be *fascinated* to see what it goes for.

  18. Where it performed admirably, running flat out the entire time. Of
course, his wasn't in such good condition as the one on ebay, it's
most baroque feature being a pair of mole grips clamped on the fuel
hose acting as a petrol tap.[/QUOTE]

Heh. I remember that, and also the look on the face of the P&O bloke
tasked with securing the bikes on the vehicle deck.

    Bear says...
I owned one for 2 years, did shitloads of miles on it and never serviced
it once. When it needed oil I robbed the container my dad had left the
old oil from his Morris Marina in. It never let me down. Brakes were a
joke, as was the handling, but it kept running through all weathers. I
even got a photo of it in SuperBike mag.
