after ten years of car driving I have finally been motivated to do the bike
test. I plan to do direct access but am toying with the idea of getting a
125cc after the CBT just as a "run around" as according to the place I want
to do my training, doing it all at weekends could take 4 weeks from CBT to
sitting the test, assuming i pass first time.

so I am looking for recommendations for 125s to consider buying - something
that isn't too expensive but will retain it's trade in value for when I do
    *fingers crossed* pass my test.

    thanx in advance

Yer average restricted learner legal 125 is a dangerous gutless wonder
in traffic, frankly. Even God's own motorcycle the CG125. Whatever you
buy, buy it with a view to selling it just as fast as you can.

Have a read of the ukrm ffaq, there are loads of links for newbies to
    follow and learn from.

And tell your owner that your shift key is broken.

Forget about the 125 and get straight into your DAS.

I got chatting to a not so sharp young lad who has a CG125[1] at the pub
tonight. He wanted some spares for his old Honda C90 Cub so he headed
off from Luton to Ely to try and find a well known bike breakers out
that way. He got lost on the outskirts of Ely so gave up looking, saw a
sign for Lowestoft and headed off to see what was there. Got there quite
late and shops were shutting so decided to make his way home. He got
lost again heading out and ended up on the Great Yarmouth road. Got
there and asked around for directions to the A10 because he knew where
he was from the A10. Someone local said they knew the A10 headed out of
Kings Lynn and pointed him in that direction. He got to Kings Lynn via
the coast road and found the A10. He then went down it via Downham
Market all the way to Ely again and then managed to remember his way
    home back to Luton.

If you look at a map you'll see why this ended up as bit of an epic
    journey.
