Quite right too, standards can't be allowed to slip. I'm crap at spelling,
and suffer from the fact that the global spell checker on my pc seems to
be jammed in merkin. If standards arn't maintained, then flaunting them is
significantly harder. The current debate raging in my immediate social
circle is the past tense of 'text', or 'txt' as the cool kids type it. I'm
pretty sure that it should be "texted", but maintaining it as "text"
seems to be the done thing. Damn language.

    website for photos.

  8. Besides, it's not as if people get flamed for ignoring the FAQ. ;)

Bloke across the road from me used to do similar.
He would get on his big Suzuki, start it up and swing his little legs
backwards and forwards until it rocked off the stand.
He then had the width of a normal cul-de-sac to get it back under
control & turned to face the right way.
Never saw him fall off but I always watched just in case.

I put it down to the fact that he's not quite got the hang of using less
front brake than he does when he's travelling slowly on shite leaf strewn or
icy roads. Well that, and the fact that his tyres were fucking abysmal in
    the grip department.

I donated a pair of Bridgestone 010's to the cause in an attempt to
demonstrate that grippy tyres and what he had on, were far from being the
    same thing.

    Lesson learned (I hope)

Can't you finagle an SV 1000 motor in there, on the quiet like?

I'm not convinced looking under the bonnet is a good thing for most people.
They'll start pking around next and then they'll break something. Best left
to the professionals all this twiddling. (IMO of course)
The correct answer to ANY qeustion regarding pillions is well know. "Tell
the bitch to get her own bike".
I can honestly say I've never met a single person who carries out "daily
checks" on either bike or car. I've never met a single person who's come to
grief because they don't either, so it really *is* some knob-head looking
for things to just test people on (fail people on, more like)

Thank **** I didn't have to go through all that, I'd have probably bailed
    out in frustration.

Oh, I'm fairly sure I could insure an SV1000 without too much hassle,
but I wouldn't call that much more interesting. It's an option, I
    suppose.

Steve, have you ever heard of "E.J. Potter"? Known as "The Michigan Madman"
in the 70's when he ran a 7.2 litre V8 engined drag racing "bike" with no
clutch? He'd have the bike up one of the old centre stands, where the stand
was centred on the real wheel spindle, then he'd rev the shit out of the
bike and then rock it off the stand and proceeded to run the 1/4 mile. It
weaved about that much he wasn't allowed to race alongside anyone, but he
did demonstrations where the 1/4 mile travelled was closer to half a mile
with all the weaving across the strip. Entertaning to say the least.

Little weedy guy he was (probably is, if he's still alive) with specs and
always wore jeans and a T shirt. No helmet.

Yeah, not much more than the 650. I'll bear that one in mind.

Shame they're a bit crap though.
