What's the most dehydrated a person can get without it making them ill?

I was just feeling incredibly thirsty then I realised ove I've only had
the past weekend I only had 1/2 a bottle of wine, a can of lager and 3
cups of tea to drink. And today just a cup of tea when I got to work.

Plus, I haven't drank water in about 6 or 7 days.

I suspect I should feel awful based on that, but don't.

Athletic performance starts to drop off big-time if you lose more than about
    500g of water.

You most likely in what is termed SDE or severe dehydration euphoria and
will probably crumble to dust within the hour.

I would sip it slowly then as too much liquid when you are dehydrated could
put you into shock. In fact, it would be best have the tea on a drip.

I downed it in 2. (well it was about 1/2 a litre of tea)

Tea and coffee are diaretics though... so they won't actually help all that
    much.

In my experience of being partially dehydrated, it usually starts with a
feeling of being spaced out, combined with a complete lack of sweating which
    then turns into severe fatigue.

I've never gone beyond that and don't really intend to :)

Heh. A few years ago I'd was on a sailing holiday in
Turkey, where it was obviously very hot during the day.
After a few days of sailing and a few nights of drinking
dehydration was starting to kick. One morning I felt
what I thought of as 'a little bit thirsty' so bought
a 1.5 litre bottle of water. It was gone in about three
    long swigs. :eek:/

ISTR being told that in these situations that if you
think you're drinking loads but still aren't pissing
very often then you're not drinking enough.

Interesting, 'cos when I tot up my weekend's intake it's about 5
litres of beer, 2 litres of wine, 1 cup of coffee and 1.5 litres of
    water/juice.

Unlike you, however, I felt like shit this morning.

So it's not the quantity; it's all in the mix.

I know that but you've not seen how awful the water from the vending
machines is here, and that's the only other option for drinks.

    Bit shit really.
I hardly ever sweat, and don't feel fatigued at the moment.. I guess I'm
    ok.
    I'll keep you posted!

Symtoms vary, but can also include nausea and headache, especially in
the event that this is heat-induced (i.e. heat exhaustion rather than
just general lack of water) where it's often the lack of salt that has
the major effect, such that just drinking water doesn't always resolve
    the issue.

But a couple of teaspoons worth of salt[1] and a couple of litres of
water can have astonishingly quick results. Like, ten minutes from
being completely dead to feeling perfectly all right.

[1] Pref. in the form of salt tablets, although they're very difficult
    to get nowadays.

    I'm agree. I blame the fact that I don't drink Sam Smith's
pubs very often so when it was suggested that I might partake
of the draught Ayingerbrau Pils I thought it would be OK.
What I didn't realise is that it is 5.9%. Now that's not too
bad if you're having a couple of pints but it doesn't really
fall into the 'session beer' category. :eek:/

Which will only make you piss more fluid then the intake is.

Alcohol, tea and coffee all function as diuretics.
btw. a lot of water is kept in your brain, and it gets
    drained quite a bit too.

Well yes, but unless you're talking expresso strength the
concentration is such that it will have a net reydrating effect,
    particularly in the short term.
which is why headaches are also a common symptom, and why Ginge
    doesn't have one ;-)
