Degreaser on chains

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Whinging Courier, Apr 18, 2004.

  1. Is it safe for me to clean my chain and sprockets with Gunk and a
toothbrush or will it seep past the O rings and shorten the life of said
    chain?

    Cheers

Use parrafin, more effective, cheaper and won't damage O-rings. If
you're going to use a toothbrush, make it a soft one. For some strange
reason a softer brush does a better job of moving grease.

Thanks. I take it I can use paraffin on the (painted) wheels as well?

Best stuff I've found to clean them so far. A quick squirt of WD40
afterwards helps make them easier to clean next time too. I had white
    wheels on my last 350LC.
