The Single Payment Scheme (SPS) replaces the Common Agricultural Policy and
now pays farmers for the land they own, not what they produce. The European
Directive on agricultural subsidies does not prohibit motor sports on land
eligible for SPS. However, the Department for the Environment, Food and
Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has taken the decision, without consultation, to stop
these payments to UK landowners if agricultural land is used, even
    temporarily, for motor sport.

Please could I ask a favour and ask you to sign this and pass it on, save
    our sport, http://www.petitiononline.com/som/
DEFRA are having serious effects on all types of Motorsport, DON'T LET IT
    HAPPEN!

I'd suggest you research this before cut and pasting the email...

As you know, the SPS is a replacement for the CAP and only agricultural
land used soley for agricultural purposes is eligible - how much has
middle England moaned about the wasteful Common Agricultural Policy -
however, DEFRA have stated that the SPS regulations will not affect
motorsports, in the same way they don't effect equine events.

Unfortunately DEFRA are not updating their website, and press releases,
until after the election. So I can't find a link but there was a piece
    in The Times about this.
